rom my education and
work experience you’d call me a numbers guy; I am a retired Variance Analyst. I
remember what variance analysis was like before computers. But while
referencing those monstrous mechanical machines during a public speaking
assignment, I realised and prophesised that one day they would sit on my desk.
I for one am certainly glad they did.
Journalism always peaked my curiosity. I admired
the ability to analyse a situation and to communicate what was happening. Grammatically,
I am not pedantic, but definitely prefer to use and read correct English and
not an Americanisation of the language. I will leave that discussion for
another day. Suffice it to say, I find it not only utilitarian but also a
language that is aesthetically pleasing to read.
As technology improved so did my
understanding of the importance visual communications was having and became
passionate about digital mediums, especially photography.
I used all three aspects of the
above in business: analysis, writing and photography. The expression, ‘a
picture is worth a thousand words’ is true. Being able to analyse, communicate
and visualise problems helped me a great deal.
